While additive suppliers can be highly knowledgable and have extensive technical
capabilities, their objective is to sell unique, patented products or other products where
they have a competitive advantage.  The bottom line is that what is best for them is not
necessarily aligned with the best interests of your company!  The same can be true for

suppliers.

Getting Started
The first step usually involves meeting to share your company's needs and review my
capabilities.  Meetings may be conducted at your place of business, at a
conference or
other industry event, or even at my office in Portland, Maine.

Client projects are described in a
terms of reference document (TOR), which
specifies the scope of the project, business goals, term of the project, milestones &
deliverables with timing, mutual commitments to the project, and costs to the client.  In
cases where a longer-term relationship is contemplated, an agreement for professional
services can be used.  Clients often find confidentiality agreements to be useful to
facilitate open communication and protect intellectual property or other proprietary
knowledge.

Pricing
Projects may be priced according to a standard hourly rate or otherwise as agreed
upon (for example, lump sum payments may be made at specific milestones or for
specific deliverables).  Retainer arrangements involving a fixed monthly payment are
preferred for long-term projects (
e.g. >6 months) or when the client desires an exclusive
relationship in a field of interest.
